Doubled Die Reverses



Designation Description Image
CRDR-001 Spread to the southwest in the lower right opening of the sword handle.

Die Markers:
Obverse: None known.
Reverse: Thin concentric die scratch between the finger and SARATOGA. SW-NE die scratch inside the U in SURRENDER.

CRDR-002 Spread to the south and a spread to the north in the lower right opening of the sword handle.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die gouge below the right side of the O in OF.
Reverse: Die break between the ring finger and the sword hilt. Die gouge left of the B in BRITISH.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die gouge between the upper T and A in STATES.
Reverse: Die gouge below the thumb.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die gouge or heavy die flow line touches the top of the Q in QUARTER.
Reverse: Die gouge touches the lower left side of the rope coming off the sword.

Reverse: Die gouge inside the upper opening of the sword hilt.

Reverse: Die gouge just left of the S in SURRENDER.

Obverse: Long die gouge between the upper E and R in QUARTER.
Reverse: Two die chips on the sword hilt below the ring finger. Die gouge left of the S in SURRENDER.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Old die scratch between the lower O and F in OF.
Reverse: Die crack with a die chip on the sword hilt below the ring finger. Die gouge below the pointer finger. Die gouge west of the sword hilt.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die gouge in front of the bridge of the nose.
Reverse: Two die gouges above the first I in BRITISH.
Designation Description Image
CRDR-010 Spread to the west in the lower right opening of the sword handle. The doubling on later die states may be partially or completely abraded away.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die dent at the rim above the ST in STATES.
Reverse: Die chip on the sword hilt below the ring finger. Semicircle just left of the doubling. Old die scratch right of the last 7 in 1777. Old die scratch northeast of the H in BRITISH.

Die Markers:
Obverse: Die gouge inside the O in OF. Die gouge between the O and F in OF. Die gouge above the D in DOLLAR.
Reverse: Die chip on the sword hilt below the ring finger. Die chip on the pinky finger of the lower hand. Numerous small die gouges around the SU in SURRENDER.
